2027 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
25-29 October 2027 | Sendai City, Japan

The Government of Japan, in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), will host the 2027 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) from 25 to 29 October 2027 at the Sendai International Center in Sendai City, Japan.

The APMCDRR is the region's main platform for governments and stakeholders to monitor progress, exchange knowledge and strengthen cooperation to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.

Bringing together governments, intergovernmental and international organizations, civil society, the private sector, academia, and other stakeholders, the conference will provide a strategic opportunity to accelerate disaster risk reduction and strengthen resilience across Asia and the Pacific — the world's most disaster-prone region.

As the last regional platform before 2030, the APMCDRR 2027 will help drive renewed action by showcasing innovative solutions and securing commitments to advance the implementation of the Sendai Framework while contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and a more resilient future beyond 2030.

A regional consultation process begins in September 2026 to help shape the conference frame and ensure it reflects the priorities and perspectives of governments and stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region.

Inclusion is a core principle of the APMCDRR 2027. The conference will promote disaster risk reduction that leaves no one behind by integrating gender equality, disability and broader social inclusion across the programme and discussions. The conference is also committed to ensuring that all participants can engage meaningfully. The venue and conference services will be designed to be accessible. The APMCDRR 2027 will provide a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all participants.

More information, including the conference theme, programme, registration and consultation process, will be published on this website as it becomes available.
