Brisbane River Flood History and Recovery Tour

The Brisbane river flood history and recovery tour showcased key resilient infrastructure along the river built since the floods in 2011, such as the floating river walk and flood resilient ferry terminals. Attendees gained an understanding of the systematic approach taken to manage flood risk and building resilience in Queensland’s most populated region.

The field trip was guided by Dr Margaret Cook, historian, heritage consultant, academic and author of A River with a City Problem: a history of Brisbane floods; Mr Greg Scroope, Technical Lead for the Flood Warning Infrastructure Program with the Queensland Reconstruction Authority’s Recovery and Resilience team. Greg is well known for his valuable work on flood warning infrastructure mapping and the development of the Queensland Strategic Flood Warning Infrastructure Plan; and Mr Peter Jeffrey AM, CSC, RFD. After distinguished military and public sector careers, Peter currently Manages City Resilience for the Brisbane City Council.
